And all of that was on difficulties higher than the insanely easy default setting. All too often the other team will stand in place, then advance the ball, then turn around in the opposite direction, then advance the ball and repeat the same cycle. FIFA 11 is filled with problems exactly like that. I once saw a shot I had taken from outside the PK box clang off the post and roll to the feet of an AI-controlled teammate, but rather than running up and making a play on the ball (or moving anywhere at all for that matter), my teammate just sat there and watched as an easy goal got gobbled up by the opposing goalkeeper. The soccer's main detractor is the AI, which seems to have taken a step in the wrong direction since last year and exhibits some very strange behavior. Player details could be better, but it's not bad for what the Nintendo DS can handle. The framerate is mostly steady, only dropping when the camera pans out to reveal the large expanse of the pitch on goal kicks.
General gameplay works fine either playing solo, via Wi-Fi or the direct to DS wireless connection. I understand that this is likely a technical limitation of the DS, but I'd rather be presented with a standard gameplay viewing angle and only be able to control one player on the pitch than have to deal with the way it's been for the last two years now. It's still too focused on only your player in-game so your view of the rest of the action is totally obscured.
While Manager Mode still provides the same amount of fun that you remember, Be A Pro is as flawed as it was last year thanks to the lacking camera angle. You can still hop into Manager Mode and take the reins of your favorite club (yes, you can simulate matches) and Be A Pro is still firmly intact.
